Week 1: Identity in Christ – Who Am I Really?
December 31- January 6, 2026

Weekly Group Meeting (60 minutes) Wednesday December 31st 6:30pm
Focal Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
Core Teaching Points:
- Your identity is not defined by your past, your job, your bank account, or what others think
- When you trust Jesus, God sees you as a completely new creation
- Your worth comes from being loved and chosen by God
- This new identity changes how you see yourself and how you live
Discussion Questions:
- What are some ways people typically define their identity? (job, family role, accomplishments, past mistakes, etc.)
- How does knowing you’re a “new creation” in Christ change the way you see yourself?
- What “old life” things does God want us to leave behind?
- How can understanding our identity in Christ help us face daily challenges?
- Who in your life needs to hear that they can become new in Christ?
This Week’s Challenge:
Write down three negative things you’ve believed about yourself. Then find three Bible verses that tell you who God says you are. Read these verses every morning this week.
Daily Devotionals (Wednesday-Tuesday)
Wednesday:December 31, 2025 You Are Forgiven
Scripture: Colossians 2:13-14
“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.”
Reflection: The record of every wrong thing you’ve done has been erased. Not hidden—erased. Jesus took the punishment you deserved.
Today’s Thought: Stop carrying guilt that Jesus already carried to the cross.
Prayer: “Jesus, thank You for taking my sins. Help me accept Your forgiveness fully.”
Thursday January 1, 2026: You Are God’s Child
Scripture: John 1:12
“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Reflection: You’re not just God’s servant or God’s project—you’re His child. That means you have direct access to your Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere.
Today’s Thought: You can call the Creator of the universe “Father” because of Jesus.
Prayer: “Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family. Teach me to live as Your child.”
Friday January 2, 2026: You Have Purpose
Scripture: Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Reflection: You are God’s masterpiece—His work of art. He created you with specific good works in mind. Your life has divine purpose.
Today’s Thought: God has a plan for you that He designed before you were born.
Prayer: “God, show me the good works You’ve prepared for me to do today.”
Saturday January 3, 2026: You Are Being Transformed
Scripture: Philippians 1:6
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Reflection: You’re not a finished product yet—and that’s okay! God is still working on you, and He promises to complete what He started.
Today’s Thought: God isn’t frustrated with your progress. He’s committed to finishing what He began in you.
Prayer: “Lord, continue Your work in me. Make me more like Jesus every day.”
Monday January 5, 2026: You Are Chosen
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
Reflection: Before you did anything right or wrong, God chose you. You didn’t earn it—He wanted you. What does it mean to be “God’s very own possession”?
Today’s Thought: You are not an accident. You are not overlooked. God specifically chose you to be His.
Prayer: “God, thank You for choosing me. Help me live today knowing I belong to You.”
Tuesday January 6, 2026: You Are Loved
Scripture: Romans 8:38-39
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Reflection: Read that list again. Nothing—absolutely nothing—can separate you from God’s love. Not your worst day, biggest mistake, or deepest fear.
Today’s Thought: God’s love for you is not based on your performance. It’s permanent.
Prayer: “Father, help me grasp how much You love me, even when I mess up.”
